Booked for Thanksgiving

Good morning!

'kayso... pie orders for Thanksgiving began coming in in April this year and continued steadily through the summer. We have just received our final pie order for this year.

We're so sorry if you missed out but we will also be stocking the store (not with pies - again, sorry).

Just a head's up, we will be opening on the Friday of Thanksgiving weekend. I will post hours after this weekend.

The fall colours are starting to appear!

Have a wonderful day!

Summer Hours

As you can see, for the first time since we began The Little Tart, we will not be operating seven days a week this summer.

We have been wrestling with this decision ever since yours truly found herself in emergency near the end of last summer. It could easily have been either of us and it was a wake up call. Apparently our physicians, family, friends, and the guy who called us 'idiots' last summer (you know who you are) were right.

When it's February and there's still snow on the ground and we're still months away from peak season, if you tilt your head, squint and say it quickly, seven days a week for two months doesn't sound too bad. But when we're in it and we're only getting about six hours sleep for every fourteen to sixteen hour day, it's not healthy.

First, we want to apologize to our Monday and Tuesday customers. We had to choose the days with the least impact. We would hate to lose you and sincerely hope you will consider becoming Wednesday or Thursday or any other day customers.

We knew this time would eventually come. Time is a thief; it's stealing our youth. We're not very happy about that. Our biggest concern is that anyone should think this is the beginning of the end of The Little Tart. Let us be very clear...

We're not going anywhere!

As long as you'll let us, we'll be here. We're slowing down with no intention of stopping. We feel this is the best way to extend the life of our business and the two people who run it and love what all of us have created here.

Thank you so much in advance for your understanding.

A Little Sweet Treat for Father's Day

Are you a dad?
Do you have a dad?
Do you know a dad?
Do you know someone who's going to be a dad?
Do you need to tell someone they're going to be a dad?
Have you ever used the term "daddy-o"?
Have you ever referred to someone as "Big Daddy"?

Answer yes to any of these questions and it sounds like you'll be looking for something special for someone special this Father's Day weekend!

How about a little sweet treat?

Have a wonderful day!

Red is Retiring

Red 'rollin' the dough' Rolling Pin

We have some bittersweet news as we approach our summer season. A valued member of our team will not be continuing this journey with us. After nine complete seasons our ever diligent Red 'rollin' the dough' Rolling pin is retiring.

It seems like only yesterday when good old Red rolled its first tray of tart shells. Every tart up to this season was rolled by Red, arguably the hardest working rolling pin we've ever encountered.

We thank Red for 9 wonderful years of loyal service. You'll be missed.

But seriously it is just a rolling pin. We bought another one. I like it much better.

It's Friday and we are OPEN!

Victoria Day Long Weekend

Good morning!

It has been a busy week here prepping for the first long weekend of the season!

I just wanted to post a reminder of our hours. We are open tomorrow and holiday Monday.

If you do plan on joining us here in cottage country this weekend - head's up - you'll need your bug jacket. The itty bitty bitey buggy boos are back! Let's hope for a good, hot dry spell to shorten their stay.

Well, I'm off to join Bill in the kitchen!

If you are in the highlands this VictoriaDay long weekend we hope you'll drop by. If not, we hope, wherever you are, you have a fabulous weekend!
